Matthew Downing

Matt Downing began his Jiu-Jitsu journey about three years ago and quickly developed a passion for both training and teaching. In July 2025, he became an officially certified Gracie Jiu-Jitsu instructor at Gracie University HQ in Torrance, California. Matt has a passion for helping others succeed and finds great joy in guiding students as they experience the benefits of learning Jiu-Jitsu. At Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Nipomo, he leads our Wednesday evening Gracie Combatives class and also assists with our Little Champs and Jr. Grapplers programs. His dedication, positive energy, and attention to detail make him a valuable part of our team, and we are happy to have him as part of our official teaching staff at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Nipomo.
